Take Back Perry Schools
Introduction
We are a group of concerned parents, educators, teachers, students and taxpayers that are committed to taking back control of the Metropolitan School District of Perry Township from a divided school board. This division started from the actions of four individual board members with personal agendas and whose actions have put our schools in a downward spiral. Their ongoing disregard for board by-laws and state laws, as well as the flippant waste of taxpayer's dollars must be opposed in an effort to Take Back Perry Schools.Vendor Payments Delayed Not Halted
Here is an explanation of why vendor payments have not been made this month on the same schedule they had been made in previous years.
The board approves the payment of bills at each meeting. The bills are listed as vouchers. The board, by motion, approves the payment of vouchers. In the past, certain year end vouchers have been paid as an accommodation to vendors. Those payments were then ratified by the board at the first meeting of the following year. Because of the close scrutiny of some board members, Dennis Nichols and Bill Brown have decided not to pay any vouchers until after they are approved at a board meeting. It is my understanding that no bills are past due. Some of them just aren’t being paid as promptly as they
might have been in the past.
There you have it. This information is accurate and factual.

[...] There’s some follow-up information posted on the Take Back Perry Schools site regarding payments to district vendors not being made as regularly scheduled in previous years. [...]

By not paying people on the same schedule they have in the past, the board is violating the wage laws of Indiana.
If you were being paid weekly, and suddenly and without warning were not paid, that is a violation of the state wage laws.
For someone to go from being paid weekly to waiting over a month to be paid is not acceptable nor legal.
The vendors payments ARE overdue as they expected payment to be made on the same schedule as had been established in the past.

Also how would you feel if you didn’t get your check right before Christmas? And couldn’t buy your kids Christmas presents because the board decided not to pay you for over a month, with NO warning!

I would like to add, I was told by a school administrator that the decision not to pay vouchers was made by the board, not Dennis Nichols and Bill Brown.
My question to you is where did you get your information and who are Dennis Nichols and Bill Brown? What gives them the authority to decide not to pay vouchers until the Board meets?
Am I being “played” by the political sides here or what?
I know two facts that are indisputable:
1. We have not been paid for vouchers turned in by Dec. 14, BEFORE the last board meeting in December!
2. We were given NO notice we would not be paid till the middel of Jan, after the board meets on Jan 9th, (even when approved it will take a few days for the checks to be printed and mailed).
3. NO ONE from the board has returned any calls for information on this issue (the President, the Vice Pres. nor the Secretary have responded at all).
4. This situation needs to be remedied immediately, and by this I mean not just the voucher payments but the whole issue going on right now. It is a sad chapter in our history.

Are you under contract with the school system? If so, what are the contract terms on when the bill is due? I am just trying to understand the “legal” terms as stated under your agreement or contract. There is not enough information here to determine whether there is any truth to your allegations. Please be more specific in your explanation. Thank you.

With regard to vendor payments, I asked a former elected official in Perry Township today who you guys are.
He told me you are members of the Teachers Union, and that at least one of you had gotten a “sweatheart” contract to teach conversational Spanish to Perry teachers.
When the Board looked into this, they determined that the contract had not been let in an appropriate way, and hence did not “pay the vendor” (i.e., the teacher union person).
Is this the vendor contract you are refering to?
If not, please specify what contracts you are refering to, and who the mysterious “Mr. Feedback” is.
I am Mr. Lantz
