Take Back Perry Schools
Introduction
We are a group of concerned parents, educators, teachers, students and taxpayers that are committed to taking back control of the Metropolitan School District of Perry Township from a divided school board. This division started from the actions of four individual board members with personal agendas and whose actions have put our schools in a downward spiral. Their ongoing disregard for board by-laws and state laws, as well as the flippant waste of taxpayer's dollars must be opposed in an effort to Take Back Perry Schools.Notice of Executive Session and Special Board Meeting

I had a teacher many years ago when I was a freshman in high school in a small town in Texas. She was fresh out of the University of Texas; she had nowhere near the experience that Connie Heermann has had. We spent 1/2 year, 1 semester, studying the lyrics and poems of the greats: Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan to name a few. She was fired at the end of the year as “that wasn’t English.” What a waste. I feel the same about Connie Heerman’s suspension. Maybe it’s simply a budget cutback in disguise. Sad that our children can’t learn about the real world until they leave their conservative, closed-minded little towns behind when out of school. Your “elected” school board and administrators will understand that at some point. Education is not just an education about your particular corner of the world. We have one big world out there and at some point we need to understand that when teaching our children! I thought it very odd that the book was in the school library and obviously someone was responsible for ordring it and placing it on the shelf. I’m guessing that individual didn’t make anywhere near the $’s Connie Heermann made.

Wake up people. Swearing and coarse language is a integral part of most peoples lives directly or indirectly. It is your job as parents to set the standard of behavior for your kids.
It’s what your kids bring with them to school that decides how they will react to the things they learn there.
And if you really believe that the reading of the f… word or learning about other aspects of real life is enough to damage your child, then you have totally and utterly failed your role as parents and role-models.

Wow.
Talk about delusional decision making. Are we in the 20th century here? What about Freedom of Expression??? I hear that is a big thing in the USA??? All because some person has incredibly fragile sensitivities and a perception of moral superiority….hmmm insubordination…yeah blanket word to hide behind while ego and fear driven decision makers ‘help’ the children make better choices.
Protecting children has more to do with making them understand safety in expression of feelings than hiding the big bad world from them.
Would someone please give this school board a brain???
How about a heart … that is probably far more in need.
Good Christians? Ha. If you are only seeing what you want to see and hearing what you want to hear and projecting that onto other people … (gotta protect the delicate children’s ears from swearing so they stay pure) … can you say issues of ego/fear based judgement???
Wake up people and climb down from your ivory tower.
